Carlos Villagrasa Alcaide (Barcelona, ​​1968) is Full Professor of Civil Law at the University of Barcelona, ​​where he has been a professor for more than thirty years, and more than twenty-five years as Magistrate at the Provincial Court of Barcelona (Appellate Court), ​​specialized in Civil Law, Family Law and Children’s rights.

He has been teaching Civil Law subjects in the Law, Social Work and Private Investigation degrees at the University of Barcelona, ​​and at the UNED, Open University, as a professor-tutor with "venia docendi", for thirty years.

He is director of the Masters on Family Law and Childhood; Private Security Management; and Documentscopy and Graphology; in addition to the Postgraduate Course in Catalan Civil Law, at the University of Barcelona, ​​for more than twenty years, and he is the Chairman of the Association for the Defense of Children and Adolescents’ Rights (ADDIA) since 2006, in addition to the International Committee of World Congresses on Children and Adolescents’ Rights, since 2005.

He is a member (as a senior expert) of the Permanent Commission of the Children Rights Observatory, of the Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and Youth, of the Department of Social Rights, of the Generalitat de Catalunya; and he is the President of the “Taula per la Infància i l'Adolescència de Catalunya” (TIAC), a confederation that brings together thirty entities for children and adolescents associations and official chambers of professionals linked to this field.

He is a member of the European Commission on Sexual Orientation Law (ECSOL), as Delegate of Spain and Andorra, and Vice President of the Association “Ahora Dónde” (Now Where)-Le Refuge, dedicated to accompanying young victims of family abandonment due to LGTBIQphobia.

He directs the Mediation Observatory of the University of Barcelona and co-directs the Master in Mediation of the Official Association of Doctors and Graduates of Catalonia, in addition to training in various masters and courses of Mediation, in public universities and professional associations.

He is a member of the European Group of Magistrates for Mediation (GEMME) and the Conference of Universities for the Study of Mediation and Conciliation (CUEMYC).

He also develops an activity in non-profit entities, being President of the Interuniversity Association for the Defense of Animals (AIUDA), Trustee of the Tallers Foundation and Sant Pere Claver Foundation, aimed at the social and labor integration of people with intellectual disabilities and at risk of exclusion, as well as Patron of the Roca-Sastre Foundation.

He is part of the Board of Directors of the Commission for the Equal Rights of New Family Models, and the Childhood and Adolescence Section, of the Barcelona Bar Association, where he also teaches various professional training courses.

He has been recognized with the distinction of Doctor Honoris Causa by the National University of Ucayali; Honorary Member of the Order of the Bar Association of La Libertad; Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Legal Sciences of the state of Morelos; Medal of Academic Merit from the Ibero-American University of Paraguay, UNIBE; Doctor Honoris Causa by the National University of Cajamarca; Honorary Member of the Bar Association of Cajamarca; Doctor Honoris Causa by the National University Toribio Rodríguez de Mendoza de Amazonas; Guest of Honor of the Faculty of Law of the National University of Córdoba; and has received the Medal of Professional Merit in Mediation from the Spanish School of Mediation and Conflict Resolution.
